Doggie Dip

Image
September 2014 good grief! has it really been this long since i last posted? it's been a busy summer. i took our son's dog to our local pool on Doggie Dip day this week. she loved it and so did i. i got in first and she jumped in to me, twice! i discovered that she is a splashy swimmer. i think that people should be allowed to bring their dogs to the pool all summer long, but only if their owners are in the water with them. i would be willing to venture a guess that dogs don't pee in the pool as much as people do! and as for dog hair? people lose hair, too! good grief, get over it, people! and i would be willing to venture another guess that back before towns had pools, pets swam with their owners in the creek or the old swimming hole! by the way, i firmly believe that we will see our pets again in Heaven. it' only makes sense!

Betty's Biannual Binge!

Betty's Biannual Binge! i just came back from furniture market last week. two days at treasure island resort & casino near red wing, minnesota. sooo much to see! so much fun! i picked up a new solid oak company from unity, wisconsin. i ordered a bedroom set and a gun case. i ordered a couple of gorgeous infrared fireplaces with beautiful wood mantelpieces that can be used to put a tv on, or just enjoyed as a fireplace. i ordered a huge number of stained glass lamps. i already have a new occasional chair company that should be shipping to me very soon. and i spent several hours with three different mattress reps getting all my questions answered! i believe that i still have the two best companies with the best values available. and i got some good advice about displaying my clocks. "display them all together and not scattered throughout your store!" and i made some very special buys for Christmas gifts! some very cool lamps and some very cool wall

The Best Escape

The Best Escape omg... have you been watching Outlander on Starz? yeah, so i bought the first few books in the series and am immersed in 18th century Scotland! wow. historical fiction at its best in my humble opinion. how enticing it would be to travel back in time. pardon me... my mind is boggling!

Taking Stock

Image
Taking Stock fall has always been my favorite time of year, and not just because i was born in the fall! because my birthday is four days before halloween, mom always made me a cake that was carved and frosted to look like a pumpkin. i love... the colors of fall. the smell of fall. the feel of fall. i love the cool nights, the brisk winds, and the crunch of dead leaves underfoot. it meant new pencils and tablets and erasers. i have always loved to write. cocoa with marshmallow melting on top. early dark. the new fall shows on tv. it's been 46 years since i graduated from high school, and i still have dreams about being late for class or not having an assignment finished. i think it's a good thing that i didn't go to college. it would have been a huge waste of money. i'm glad to be where i am... when i am... and with whom i am!

Spring Cleaning!

May 2014 i got a new scanner. and a handy dandy little machine called a Plustek OpticFilm OF8200i Ai 35mm Film and Slide Scanner. now that's a mouthful, isn't it! all in line with my next big project, getting all of our photographs and negatives scanned and onto my computer. we also are going to be getting a new computer so this entire project is on hold until that is accomplished. right now all of our pictures are in huge plastic tubs in the back of an upstairs closet. real handy in case of a fire, eh? gosh! don't even mention that! the project that is going on right now is the upgrading of my husband's boyhood home. too many years of neglect coupled with wanton renters had taken their toll. but the house is 125+ year old and still solid as a rock with all hardwood floors which we just discovered under the old orange carpet in the living room and the harvest gold linoleum in the kitchen! some of the original doorknobs were stolen but i have been able to
